What to Wear for Your Engagement Session | Tips From a Virginia Wedding Photographer

What you wear has a bigger impact on your engagement photos than most people realize. Not because you need designer clothing or because there are hard rules, but because clothing affects light, movement, color, and the overall feeling of your images.

After photographing hundreds of couples, I've started noticing patterns. Certain choices naturally photograph softer and more timelessly, while others can unintentionally compete with the moment itself.

These aren't rules. Think of them more like little photographer secrets.

Let one person be the statement piece

If one person is wearing a pattern, let the other stay more simple. Florals, texture, or subtle prints can add personality, but balance keeps your images from feeling busy. The goal isn't matching. It's looking like you belong in the same photograph.

Coordinate effort level

This one matters more than people expect. If one person arrives looking like they stepped out of a magazine while the other is in athletic shorts and a baseball hat, it creates visual imbalance.If she dresses up, he should too. Casual can absolutely work, elevated can absolutely work. Just meet each other in the same neighborhood.

Neutral colors photograph beautifully

Cream, sage, soft blue, muted greens, warm whites, beige, and earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully because they let emotion become the focus.

Let textures do the heavy lifting

Eyelet fabric, linen, knits, ruching, embroidery, movement in sleeves or skirts — these add visual interest without needing loud colors or bold prints.

Tiny color differences matter (a photographer confession)

Photographer confession: I should have coached this one better.

Notice how she's wearing a soft cream dress while he's wearing a bright white shirt? Bright whites can sometimes pull cooler or slightly blue in certain lighting, especially beside warmer creams.

It's subtle and not something most people would ever think about, but little choices like this can make editing much easier and create a softer overall look.

Dark clothing isn't bad—it creates mood and contrast. But if you love soft, bright, light-filled imagery, lighter tones naturally reflect more light and help create that feeling.

Movement photographs beautifully

Flowing dresses, movement in fabric, skirts with motion, sleeves with texture—these create natural movement and help images feel alive.

Most importantly, wear something that still feels like you.

Sehnsucht, Photography and the Ache of Holding On

I recently learned the German word Sehnsucht. Apparently there is an actual word for that strange ache of longing that follows you around. Which honestly felt a little rude because I thought I was just being dramatic all these years.

Maybe that's why I photograph everything.

On this day the light in my house was doing that thing where it becomes soft and overcast and lovely and effortless. The kind of light photographers dream about and normal people probably walk past without thinking twice. And Eliana was standing in it, looking beautiful in the way my kids somehow do when they are quietly becoming themselves.

And there it was again.

That strange feeling of loving this version of her while missing little-girl Eliana at the exact same time.

I keep thinking that maybe I photograph things because I want to keep them. To bottle the feeling and place it on a shelf somewhere for later.

But maybe the hard part is that the beauty is in the brevity itself.

Maybe moments catch in our chest because somewhere, even while we're living them, we know they are passing. We know they are vapor. We know they cannot stay.

And maybe if they could stay forever, they would not feel quite so luminous.

I don't think photographs stop time.

But maybe they let us stand in the doorway of a moment for a few extra seconds before we have to let it go.

Amanda + Brian | Rainy Wedding at The Atrium at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

There are couples who spend months planning every detail of a wedding day and still find themselves holding their breath when something unexpected happens. Then there are couples like Amanda and Brian.

It rained. A lot.

And Amanda never wavered.

She has a steadiness that doesn't resist the moment. She meets it and somehow the moment settles around her instead. The rain became part of the day rather than something interrupting it. Clear umbrellas appeared, plans shifted naturally, and somehow everything felt exactly as it should have.

Amanda and Brian are both engineers, and fittingly, their story began through gaming. Thoughtful feels like the right word for them. What they've built together feels intentional without feeling forced. You notice it in small moments more than big ones. The way Brian visibly relaxed whenever Amanda was beside him. The ease in the way they moved together. Nothing exaggerated. Nothing performative. Just a grounded kind of comfort.

One of my favorite things as a Virginia wedding photographer is seeing how different couples respond when a wedding day moves differently than expected. Sometimes rain changes the rhythm of the day, but for Amanda and Brian it almost felt like it revealed something about who they already were.

The Atrium at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite Northern Virginia wedding venues because of that balance between architecture and nature. Even on a rainy day, the glass conservatory fills with soft light, the gardens remain beautiful, and there are endless places to create imagery that feels timeless.

Amanda and Brian made rain feel less like weather and more like part of their story.

Their engagement session and wedding will remain among my favorites.

Wedding | Big Spring Farm

Kristin and Jonny are close friends of ours from church! We were so happy to capture their wedding and to play a small part in their story. Going through all the images had me smiling and tearing up. There were literally THOUSANDS of photos to pick from, yet these can only skim the surface of the love that filled up their day. What I do know is this; these two were made for each other. Their love is the stuff of fairy tales and I KNOW their marriage will be used by God to bring about His glory on earth! Love you guys! I know for you, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

Join me in congratulating Amanda and Jeremy! We didn't have a chance to meet them ahead of time, but we fell in love with them right away. It was clear they were made for each other and fit together like puzzle pieces. Amanda never stopped smiling, Jeremy never took his eyes off of his bride. The weather could not have been more beautiful. A vibrant blue, sunny sky served as the perfect back drop for their ceremony at the Osprey at Belmont Bay. Wedding | Moss Vineyard | Jenna & Evan

Memorial day weekend, Scott and I had the privilege of capturing Jenna and Evan’s wedding. It was one of my favorite weddings ever. It was my favorite, because we were surrounded by family! You see, Evan and Jenna go to church with us. Most of the guests were part of our church family too! God so clearly had his hand on their day. At the beginning of the week there was nearly a 100% chance of rain! We were all praying that the weather would hold. The exact moment we were done capturing the first look and family portraits; lighting lit up the sky and a crack of thunder reverberated across the valley. We made it inside JUST before the heavens opened up and rained buckets on the vineyard! Miraculously, The skies cleared just in time for guests to arrive and the ceremony proceeded under sunny skies. Again we had just enough time to capture the after ceremony portraits and get inside before the heavens opened up again! I was amazed at the timing.

Even with the rain, it was a glorious day. Jenna took Evan’s breath away in a gown from Ava Laurenne. Evan was devastatingly handsome in his suit from Joseph A Banks. The day went off without a hitch, thanks to the brilliant planning of Anyvent planners. We laughed. We cried. We celebrated a love graciously given from our good, good Father. It doesn’t get better than this. Yet for these two... The best is yet to come.

Joel & Amelia

This weekend we had the honor of capturing Joel & Amelia's wedding! It was literally THE perfect day. A balmy 68 degrees, partly cloudy with a fresh breeze. Seriously brides would give almost anything for a day like that! We have worked with Amelia's mother, Susan, for other weddings in the family. She is a planning GENIUS and there was plenty of time to get all the shots we needed and then some. This was our first time capturing a wedding at Rixey Manor. It was dreamy. As a huge Jane Austen fan, I was walking around channeling Elizabeth Bennet in my posing and in capturing the details. Scott is pretty lucky I didn't end up calling him Mr. Darcy all day. Isadora was incredibly helpful, organizing the guest and making sure everyone was were they needed to be.

Joel and Amelia exchanged traditional heartfelt vows, the guest enjoyed gorgeous views overlooking the mountains and Nate from I'm The DJ kept the party going all night long. I love their images so much, check some of them out below:

These two were an absolute joy to capture. It's not easy to be vulnerable in front of the camera, let alone to be so in front of all the people who come each year to see the cherry blossoms... BUT they did it! We had fun trying to navigate the crowd, waiting for spots with cherry blossoms along the tidal basin, and then forging our own path in uncharted areas. Ally and Brian's wedding was an absolute pleasure to capture. The day had a dream like quality, one event flowing flawlessly to the next. They say rain on your wedding is good luck. Well if that is true Tori and Taylor will have the luckiest life together ever! It didn't just rain on their wedding day, it poured. We didn't get a little wet, we were ALL soaking wet. It was exhilarating! I couldn't stop smiling. I love a bride who knows exactly what she wants. Tori wanted to get married out in the gardens at Maymont, and she wasn't going to let rain stop her. The best part was witnessing her her family and friends rally to make it happen. When Neema and Kali called us a few months ago to capture their wedding we knew we had found a perfect match. We were beyond excited they thought so too! It is SO important to have good chemistry with the people you surround yourself with on your wedding day. The second we walked in there was a flurry of organized chaos. Everyone was laughing, and full of joy. I loved seeing how truly loved they were by their friends and family (as there was hardly a dry eye in the place all day). We had SUCH an amazing time capturing Matt & Stephanie's wedding! It was a gorgeous day, and these perpetual storms of late held off just long enough for the two to have the wedding of their dreams! An outdoor wedding under sunny skies surrounded by their family and friends!

Ayla and Rouven tied the knot at the Wooden Sanctuary. It rained but it was not enough to put a damper on their love. I love Ayla's heart so much! Meet Cori & Reed. This gorgeous couple met and fell in love in RVA where they "swiped right" and found love! Scott and I met them where it all began, a pub called Station 2. I love maternity sessions. This one in particular made my ovaries hurt. BAD. Jen used to live across the street from me here in the 'Burg; even though she's moved we are still good friends. As it turned out, I missed her baby shower to capture a wedding! I couldn't think of a better way to honor her and her sweet growing family by gifting her a bump to one year package! I loved how the owner/ coordinator made sure every detail was perfect and that the entire affair went seamlessly from start to finish. This black tie event featured beautiful soft blooms & lambs ear (arranged by foxtail florist). The bride dazzled in a mermaid, Marisa wedding gown. The groom was devastatingly handsome in his Vera Wang suit. Nathan of DJFit was a fantastic master of ceremonies and kept the party going all night long. I want these two as forever friends! Vianney is vivacious, kind and has a magnetic personality you just can't help but want to be around. Raf is steadfast, loyal, thoughtful and has eyes only for his bride. The two had a traditional catholic wedding with full mass followed by a hopping reception at The Hylton Performing Arts Center. We had the great honor of capturing Yoni & Emily's wedding! Emily knows no strangers and I immediately felt drawn to her lively open nature. Yoni, likewise a doctor by trade had a gracious, compassionate nature that was so endearing. The two tied the knot at The Hotel Monaco in Washington D.C. It was one of the most beautiful weddings we have captured yet ( I know I've said that a time or two but it's always true!). Emily's bouquet made by J.Morris flowers featured stunning dinner plate dahlias and other soft blooms in shades of pink and orange. The ladies looked their finest by the ministrations of Alison Harper & Company and the party was absolutely hopping thanks to the live band, Prime Time. Ariana & Conner are a photographers dream come true. Kind, self-possessed and deeply in love with each other, the two made capturing their day a blast. The ceremony and reception were held at Wollam Gardens. This venue, a working flower farm dazzled with a natural charm. Rows of flowers, historic buildings and an alfresco reception site combined, made it gorgeously memorable day. Eat and Smile Catering helped them create a meaningful menu (chicken and waffles representing where they live, and Salmon representing their first international trip together). The bouquets were absolutely gorgeous and featured Dahlias grown and assembled at Wollam Gardens. My personal favorite part was the live band: The Bachelor Boys.This was a seriously talented group that kept the guest dancing all night long. Here are some images from their day:

Cody and Jenny were so fun to be with and their happiness was contagious. We met in downtown Fredericksburg at the Kenmore Inn, where we spent an evening laughing and capturing gorgeous images. As we were passing Orofino, the owner noticed us checking to see if the gate was locked (the court yard is a favorite spot of mine here in the 'burg). It was closed for the day, but just as we were about to leave he came out and opened it... Just so we could grab some photos!! These images turned out to be my favorite from this session. So here's my plug: go and check them out! Not only was that such a cool experience for us, but their food and service are amazing!

Courtney & Robert crushed their engagement session in Old Town Alexandria. I couldn't find a shot I didn't LOVE. Courtney chose to look the part of a bride-to-be be, wearing a beautiful lace ivory dress. Everywhere we went people called out their congratulations and I think it really helped capture who they are as a couple. We are SO excited for their wedding next year! It has been a crazy year for us. We are So blessed to have so many awesome clients! I am about 10 blog post behind and now that things are settled down I will catch up on sharing our images!!

This engagement session was our most recent. Monica & Will chose to have us meet them while they were "cabining" in Bull Run Park. They spend much of their time outdoors and it really speaks to who they are as a couple. Monica had decorated the cabin and it had a fun festive vibe. It was cold outside so for a portion of the session we headed indoors so they could warm up with hot chocolate and snuggles. Of course It wouldn't be camping without S'mores. So we ended the session with some fireside romance. Hope you enjoy these as much as I loved taking them:

Wedding | Ashley & TJ

Ashely and TJ got married at one of our favorite venues in the Burg, Stevenson Ridge. Ashely was an absolutely radiant bride. She kept with tradition and waited to see TJ for the first time while walking down the isle. The moment was moving and sweet and several of the guest shed happy tears as the two exchanged their vows. An element I had never seen before during a ceremony was a Love Lock Tree. The couple and their parents engrave a lock and place it on the “Tree of Life”. What an amazing way to unite the two families! The rest of the night continued with much joy and laughter. Here are some images to give you a feel for their day:

Wedding | Omar and Marianthy

So excited to share Omar and Marianthy's wedding with you on the blog today! The pair got ready and had their reception at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda. It was a rainy day but they were full of excitement and happy tears. They had a lovely ceremony at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. The reception had a "movie theme" with place settings displaying the couple's favorite cinematic features. I really loved how they incorporated their heritage by having greek & salsa dancing! Sarah & Shawn's wedding day was perfect. The weather was gorgeous, the venue was amazing, and the bride radiant. Something I had not seen before was a Keepsake bouquet. Sarah found hers on Etsy so she could cherish it forever (how cool is that?!). Their outdoor ceremony took place at Brandy Hill Farm with a reception at the old historic barn onsite. Some of my favorite elements from their day include a s'mores table and a selfie station. The selfie station was a fun alternative to having a photo booth. Not only that but they incorporated Harry Potter costumes as the props (I LOVE HP)! The guest spent the night dancing away and a truly amazing time was had by all. Wedding | Elizabeth & Cori

I found myself smiling as I picked the images for this blog. Elizabeth and Cori are just as you see them here. Happy, kind, genuine and people who just want to have a good time. Their day was filled with laughter, happy tears and much merriment. One of my favorite elements in thier wedding were the Flower Grannies (instead of flower girls). What an awesome way to include and honor grandmothers don't you think?! At one point Elizabeth mentioned she was disappointed it didn't rain because she loved our rain shots. Well we really aim to please! Scott spotted a garden hose and we were able to fake some rain for them! Check those shots out and more from their day below:

Here we show the two ways we captured this sparkler exit

Method 1- Using ambient light with a wide aperature. In these shots Scott was shooting with the canon 35mm 1.4. These shots were take at F1.4, ISO 2500, shutter 100.

Method 2- For the flash shot I had an OCF behind the couple set at full power (try and make sure the couple is directly in front of it when you take the shot) and a on camera flash set at 1/8 power (bounce card out and tilted slightly forward) this helps light them from the front. I used the canon 70-200 2.8. This shot was taken at F3.5, ISO 1600, shutter speed 200.

Lauren and Andrew had a beautiful wedding at the Inn at Vint Hill. I really loved that they incorporated their passion for science in the details. Their seating chart was the periodic table! My favorite picture of the day was snapped by Scott. The moment Lauren and her dad hugged right before the vows were exchanged. It really sums up the love in the air that day. It was perfect. The guest played corn hole, enjoyed the gorgeous grounds and danced the night away. An amazing time was had by all. Here are some images from their day:

Devon & Kim had their wedding and reception at Antrim 1844. This venue was amazing and the staff did a great job hosting the day. My favorite part was when Kim's dad gave a surprise speech honoring the couple and welcoming Devon to the family. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place! Devon and Kim clearly only had eyes for each other and it was an honor to be a part of their special day.

Jess and Michael are such a sweet couple. We had an amazing time capturing their wedding. The two tied the knot at Fairmount Christian Church, followed by a reception onsite. It was a small, traditional wedding with lots of fun activities like Jumbo Jenga and Grownup size pick-up-sticks going on all around. One neat thing I had not seen done before was a wedding piñata! It was fun to watch Michael and Jess duke it out to reveal wedding favors for their guest! That paired with my favorite food on the menu (CHIPOTLE!!!) made it a fantastic day! Kaite and Andrew tied the knot at Stevenson Ridge! The day was fun, carefree and full of laughter. On top of that they were SO obviously in love ( that makes our job easy!!). There was even a pause to stop and "try and catch 'em all" (Pokemon on the Go). The flowers were done by LynnVale Studios and were simply stunning (dahlias are officially my new favorite flower). The dessert and cake table were made by Fat Girl Cakes (so cute AND delicious) and Mike from DJ with Bowties really helped get the party started (even taught the guest dances!). Rachel and Keith met at target (which is why you will see many details include target-brand, board games!). The two tied the knot at Buchanan Hall and they could not have had nicer weather. The most gorgeous clouds ever formed right in time for some epic sunset photos. They were a very sweet couple and we felt very much a part of their day. My favorite thing about them was that they WANTED to take lots of photos! Some couples do not leave a lot of time for portraits (even though we strongly encourage it)... We met Sarah and Shawn in Old Town Alexandria near the Torpedo Factory. Scott and I noticed a super cute couple busy on their phones and commented that they must be playing Pokemon Go. Wedding | Jasper & Ellen

Ellen and Jasper tied the knot at the Shenandoah Woods wedding lodge. The rain held off for the ceremony and the two were able to say their vows outside with the beautiful, Shenandoah Mountains as a backdrop. All the details were DIY and put together with the help of family and friends. It was really neat for us to capture this wedding because Ellen was a bridesmaid at a wedding we captured last year! It truly felt like a family affair as we got to see many of the same faces and see how our couple from last year was enjoying married life! Ellen and Jasper are the sweetest couple. I know "love-filled" is the commonly used phrase to describe every wedding; but this one truly was. At the very least, it was certainly HUG-filled. Every time I turned around, it seemed there was another group of people hugging! And as if to define that themselves, the very first thing Ellen and Jasper did as a married couple was to have every wedding attendee hug them- as in everyone at the same time! It was chaotic. It was glorious. This will never get old. I love to see people who love each other make the commitment to do life together in front of their loved ones. This is good stuff people! Good stuff, indeed! This rustic mountain wedding took the cake for sweetness. May they always be as in love as they were this day, dancing in the rain. Here are some images from their day:

Wedding | Nina & Ben

Scott is going to say I went overboard on this blog post (I think there are over 75 images)...BUT I just could not help myself! Nina and Ben are an amazing couple. I loved every second of capturing their wedding. They are genuinely kind people who took a step back from "planning mode" to enjoy the day. I think you will be able to see that from the images. A few days before their wedding, Ben ruptured his achilles tendon playing basketball. Because of this you may notice he is wearing a crutch in some of the images. It was also raining for our 6th wedding in a row so instead of heading outside we got some amazing shots inside the venue at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner! The best man said it best; He knew Nina was Ben's forever girl when Ben declined watching football with the guys in favor of his new found love (something he had never done before). I hope and pray they would always choose each other. Here are some images from their day!

Wedding | Matthew & Leighanne

It is rare for us not to meet a couple before we photograph their wedding. Yet this was the case with Matthew and Leighanne. Even so we did not feel like they were strangers. They were kind, loving and genuine people and it felt like we had known them for years. When we arrived at Glasgow Farm it had already started raining (like almost all our May weddings this year!). Leighanne was still in high spirits and we were blessed to have several periods of time without rain to get some pictures outside! Ellery of Hand in Hand Weddings was a HUGE help in keeping the day running smoothly. The Glasgows (owners of the farm) were amazing as well and helped us get amazing shots with their animals(SO COOL). One of my favorite shots was when their goat tried to eat Leighanne's flowers (Laugh Out Loud, you can see that shot below).Here are some pictures from their day.

Elizabeth and Kirk are a fun, Harry Potter and Green Lantern-loving couple who got rain on both their engagement session AND their wedding day (what are the odds?!). Even so they made the best of a wet situation with good natured laughs, ice cream and lots and lots of umbrellas and galoshes. Splashes of their personality could be found in the details. The boutonnieres were made from Green Lantern comics, the bouquet from pages from Winnie the Pooh and the cake paid homage to Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and the Kingkiller chronicles. I was seriously geeking out. If I could go back and do my wedding over again I would definitely be stealing some of these ideas! The ceremony and reception were held at Riverside by Clore Brothers. The ladies over at Occasions by M&K kept the night running smoothly, while Jerry from Dynamite DJ's Kept the party hopping. Wedding| Kevin & Anna

This wedding was just awesome. We have never had a couple who laughed so much and who so obviously and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of their day. Anna and Kevin had a traditional ceremony at Saint Agnes Catholic Church followed by a gorgeous, bayside reception at The Osprey at Belmont. Kevin is an avid fly fisherman and details of the wedding were used to highlight that(i.e. table settings and the groomsman's boutonnieres). Brooke, the event coordinator, at the Osprey was exceptionally kind and kept the day running smoothly. The DJs from A2Z Music Factory put on an impressive party setting the mood with up-lights and party favors. Sue from Shawn's Smokehouse BBQ made sure the guest were fed and happy. Event | The Knot Mixer

We spent our Cinco de Mayo hanging out with the wonderful people over at The Knot and many of their amazing vendors! Linnie of L&L Events contacted us to see if we would capture the event and we jumped at the chance. She and her team coordinated the event and I have to say it was a roaring success. There were so many neat ideas; I hope my brides can make use of in their own wedding (i.e. adult snow cones people need I say more?!). Here are some of the shots from the night!

I am so excited to share Rob & Amber's wedding on the blog today! Rob has been a close friend of ours since we moved to Fredericksburg where we met him at our church Crossroads Vineyard! Rob is incredibly loyal, hardworking and always willing to help a friend in need (and he has helped us MANY a time!). It was so awesome to witness his courtship with Amber and see God answer so many prayers by bringing them together! Their wedding was the most Christ centered I have ever witnessed and had the privilege to capture. They shared communion privately before the ceremony, recited their own God centered vows and chose to have the attendees worship with them as their first act as a married couple. This wedding brought me to tears with joy and reminded me of Christ's love for the church. Thank you Amber and Rob for choosing us to capture your day!

Amber's mother was not able to make it to the big day, however we still got some great pictures of her via Skype! I just love this couple!

This proposal was really special for us to capture because it was Scott's brother who was doing the asking!!! Kyle called us and we arranged to meet at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, Virginia. We arrived early, picked the perfect spot (said a prayer that the couple hundred other people there wouldn't walk by during the crucial moment) and I have to say it was these came out just perfect! *Just for photographers*

I have heard a lot of my up and coming photographers friends ask how to shoot when there is full sun. This shoot was a great example of how you can utilize shadows and use OCF or how to properly expose for full sun. I think part of the problem now a days is people are shooting to get a light and airy look (which IS very pretty!). When shooting in full sun MAKE sure to properly expose (don't over expose or under too much!) and you'll get a really nice outcome! You will notice in some of the shots we are in the shade but Scott has kindly used a reflector to bounce light back in to their faces. In other shots we set up OCF slightly off to the left (or right) of the shooter to give a really nice portrait lighting and in the full sun shots we properly expose the shots (or slightly underexpose)! Get out there and give it a go!

Andrew and Lauren really wanted to have their engagement pictures taken in Washington, DC with the cherry blossoms! Plans were made, permits were obtained, yet low and behold a wind storm demolished nearly every last bloom. Happily we found what we believe was the LAST cherry blossom tree and captured some shots with it!! This couple was such a pleasure to photograph! They were genuine, sincere, had contagious smiles, and an obvious, affectionate love for each other. I simply can not wait to capture their wedding later this year!! I loved this couple. They were sweet. They were in love. They were gorgeous. You really can not ask for more when capturing a wedding. That and the bride happened to be channeling my favorite author with an austenesque wedding dress made by her mother! The evening went beautifully with a traditional ceremony at Leesburg Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at one of our all time favorite venues; Riverside at the Potomac. Ryan of DaVinici Sound + Vision did an AHHmazing job getting the party started and as master of ceremonies while the wonderful folks over at Butler's Unique Catering kept everyone fed and happy. Hillary and Patrick tied the Knot at one of Virginia's most popular wedding venues; Veritas Vineyard in Charlottesville, Virginia. I absolutely loved it there!. The weather cooperated and the day could not have been more perfect. Hillary was a DIY bride and did most of the decor herself! I'm always so impressed with that! Every time I try a DIY I end up spending 3x the money and end up throwing in the towel and purchasing whatever it is in it's completed form! Sarah & Nick were THE sweetest couple ever. I'm almost surprised I got any picture taking done because I just wanted to get to know them better! They were also probably the easiest people to capture! They were so in to each other and aware of how to angle their bodies to the camera! That's amazing for me! One of the things I've been working on is posing so it was nice to take a break on that front and just let them do their thing. We met up in a neighborhood in Chevy Case, Maryland known for it's amazing old homes and mature cherry blossom trees. J-Lynn and Dan tied the knot on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. They had a beautiful traditional church wedding at the Kings Chapel in Clifton, Virginia followed by a reception at a truly unique venue; The Marine Corps Museum in Triangle, Virginia. J-Lynn has been volunteering there for several years and it was a really meaningful location for both her and Dan. Her attendants dazzled in red floor length gowns and the guys looked awesome with their gold vests! I hope you rang in the new year with friends and loved ones! I sure did! There is something about this time of year that is magical. I will be sad to put away all my Christmas decor and switch my Pandora station from the Holiday channel.
